Award-winning Sustainable Preservation Project - Oak Park, Illinois

Project Type:  Total rehab of a 1890’s single family home that had been converted into a multi-unit building - Oak Park, Illinois

Objective:  This property had been neglected and misused for many years.  The interior had beautiful details. While the prior unit had used this property as a rooming house, the goal was to restore the property to a two unit building, take out many recently constructed dividing walls and restore the property to its’ proper place in an Oak Park Historic District.

Scope of Work:  We researched prior existing room placement. We created two functionally modern apartments while respecting the historic aspects of the building.  While doing the restoration we incorporated all sustainability/green build features that we could in an old building rehab.

Details:  We were awarded the Oak Park Sustainability Award 2019 for our work on this project.  Tenants love the open spaces, multiple bathrooms while enjoying all the features and details of a contemporary finish within an updated older building.
